Worried

Journal Entry: Mon Feb 12, 2007, 12:25 PM
Sorry I've been away for a bit.  I've been busy and when not I've holed myself up at home not being social (or being sick).  Yes - I got sick again (worse than last time) and it's not quite over yet.  Almost though.

As for art - I need to get started on some painting.  Work has been busy so I've not gotten time to work on anything digital (other than some logo work).

Other than being typically stressed out, it's now compounded waiting for my passport to come in.  I need it to go to the the PhotoShop Conference in April.  I submitted it in late December, as soon as I could, but unfortunetly me finding out about going to the conference coincided with new laws coming into effect for visiting the States, since everyone now needs a valid passport after January 23rd.

What this means is that everyone and their dog is trying to get passports, and I may be fucked up the goat ass.

I've been waiting for a month and a half now, and my reference have yet to be contacted.  Typically you need 20 business days to process which is what I was told when I mailed it, yet they now say you need at least 45, which works out to  over 2 months.  If all goes well, I should get it mid-March, which is really cutting the limit.  If it's rejected (I have no idea why it would be) there's no time to get a new one.  I mailed it (which takes longer) because I couldn't take a day off work to sit in the passport office to drop it off.  Waiting times were in the double digits to be served.

So now I'm worried I won't get it in time, so I decide to try and call to see where  it's at in the submission process, and due to increased calling you can't even get on hold.  You just have to call and call and call, 8:30 to 4:30, in hopes of getting a place in hold to wait for hours to talk to someone.  I don't like not knowing.

This is all making me nautious and is giving my insomnia.  If I can't go to the Photoshop conference, I think I'll shoot myself in the face.  I've been waiting to go to this for years (since co-workers already went - I was forced to wait because "I'm too talented").  In the end I guess it's my fault, for not getting a passport before anything was set in stone about travelling.

Fingers crossed anyway.  Sorry all for venting.  I just think this is screwed up.

I think you'll be fine. I've had to jump through similar hoops and had mine in mere days despite all the dire warnings. If not - please do not post pics of the goat ass fucking. :)

Vent forgiven - that's half the fun of this place.

I've never had a passport, being an insular, island kinda person. I wouldn't be surprised if your call went to Bangalore or somewhere... that's one of my pet peeves.

Mmm, sweet and sour chicken...

I'm like that too. I didn't think of this passport crap being an issue because I've only been out of the country one when I was like 8. I'm rarely out of my province!

So I guess I was in a bubble of ignorance - I had no idea about this new law and therefore the reprecussions.

I like ignorance - sounds even nicer in bubble form.

There are new laws here too, since everyone got so jumpy about terrorism. :paranoid:
