I Want To Playby ~CRWPitman

Traditional Art / Paintings / Animals

Another painting for the SPCA, to be auctioned off on Friday (Sept. 15th, 2006).

The painting is from an original photograph by Luke Roberts, which I loved since I came to DA. I think it was one of my first favourites. I think it's perfect for the cause as it brings up so many emotions. When looking at it, you think: is it happy? Is it sad? Is it mad? Abused? Does it just want to get out and play? Is it trapped? Is it living in squalor? I find it in general gives out a kind of helplessness, as whether the dog is a friendly one or not it's not allowed it's freedom, and is behind a metal wall (which at the same time you know it will never be able to chew through to gain freedom). Oh - and the look of the shot by itself is beautiful.

I think the nose needs a touchup.... it looks a little crooked. Or maybe it's the nostril size. Either way, something looks a tiny bit off.
